Address Book Module doesn't include groups

I use groups in address book a lot to make adhoc email aliases for
groups of people I need to send emails to frequently.  Like my dev
team, etc.  I noticed that the address book module doesn't seem to
index the group as an address you can send an email too.   How can I
get the groups index so that I can select the group for an email
action?
