See the first paragraph of the Proxy Object section:
"For this section make sure advanced features are enabled in the
Application Preferences and
also make sure Proxy Objects are enabled in the Catalog under
Quicksilver. Proxy objects are a
special kind of object that stands for (or proxies) something else
that changes."
