I'm not sure if there are any differences between B54 and B56 regarding this. In general such a large catalog certainly causes B54 to slow down considerably. My advice is to find other ways to store the files so that only the needed ones are indexed. Or another trick is to index only folders to a great depth and then use right-arrow or / to move into them to find the files. See the catalog section of the manual for details in setting this up:

The list of plugins looks fine (though the dictionary one has limited functionality on leopard, unless it was fixed in B56).

As to the error messages, I'm not sure about them, maybe someone else has an idea.

I'm using QS b56 (3820) on Mac OS X 10.5.6

Custom catalog is defined as ~/Documents with depth of infinite (This
gives me ~86K files atm). Really need this depth, as it helps me drill
quickly thru client files and swap between projects under deadline.

Documents folder is on the system hdd.

I'm using QS in bezel mode with Advanced Features Enabled. Plugins
are:
Address Book, Mail, Dictionary, Email Support, File Compression,
Firefox/Mozilla, iCal, iTunes, Music Support, Safari, VooDoo Pad,
WebSearch

Here are some console error messages:

Let me just say that even if I had to restart QS every hour, it would
still be better than not having it. Google Desktop Search doesn't
begin to touch the gorgeousness that is QS.

Let me know if you need more. I appreciate your help.
Thanks
Josh.

Could you give more information please. What version of QS and OSX are
you using? Precisely how is the custom catalog defined (path, depth,
etc.)? Is your documents folder on a different drive?

What plugins do you have installed? Are there any Quicksilver messages
printed out in the console.app logs?
