Activity Monitor>>CPU (CPU in the tab bar below) lists all running processes above. One of them may be causing the sleep problem. You have to try quitting the processes (which you suspect to be causing the issue) one by one and see if sleep works. You might also want to look in the Console.app log. In any case, you should try the apple forum since it has nothing to do with Quicksilver in your case.
