I wish more people could grasp it. AppleScript is a hidden power in
Mac OS which is never mentioned in a Windows vs Mac debate.

if you like to do things with Quicksilver:
set up a trigger like "Command window" and an action/applescript which
uses "on process text"

if you don't want to use Quicksilver because of problems in triggers
in Snow Leopard, use ThisService application which grabs selected text
from Cocoa apps like Quicksilver. It creates items in Services menu,
so you will need Service Scrubber to organize them.  You can assign
them a shortcut through System Preferences>>keyboard and mouse
