Do you mean, how is Quicksilver able to show its command window
without taking focus away from another application? If so, this is
simply because Quicksilver is not showing an icon in the Dock (at
least, not on your computer; some people change that preference).
There are several ways to do this, and I am not sure which one QS
uses, but a very simple way to do it to any application is described
