I first thought same as Rob.
But I kept on trying to reproduce this erratic behaviour, i.e.,
the Quit action not always available in the second pane for Nocturne
in the first.

I encountered that following these steps Quit becomes available:
- in QS select Nocturne, then Open,
- from Nocturne's menu bar item select Preferences, then close its
window,
- in QS select Nocturne, then Quit.

Could you try this out?
