new user problem

I am trying to learn how to use QS, and i think I have a basic
configuration issue:
I have watched a (utube) video about using the shelf, and can't quite
figure out the configuration;
when I go to "catalog", to look to see that the shelf(and also the
clipboard) have been installed, what appears is only 1 line which is
"quicksilver catalog entries"(with #75 in parenthesis), but no
individual items.
