Sorry, but I fired a little too soon. I remembered that I have my catalog rescan every 10 minutes and I have the clipboard module installed. I save about 500 items. I was recently working with several very large images in Pixelmator and was heavily copying and pasting them between documents. I cleared out the clipboard history and everything seems to work fine again.
