You're right, it does show the email address at the bottom of the interface if you highlight i! But it doesn't look like it does that when I have text entered in the first pane, and then I have the email destination entered in the third pane.
Having it show up in the bottom of the interface is good enough for me, if it did it for the third pane as well. Because I more often have text in the first pane and email it a particular recipient. (I am on 1.3 by the way).
