Okay, I checked the "Get Info", and its creation date concurs with the updated plugin creation date, so I think I have the updated plugin. I think the "couple of restarts" did the trick, however, because all of a sudden, the compression module works now.
It's definitely odd, but I'm not complaining. Thanks a bunch for the support.
