I now have a universal scope hotkey-combo to get directly to the trigger
panel of quicksilver.  The key piece for the solution was provided by
philostein: go to preferences, catalog, quicksilver, and enable internal
commands!  After that the "QS trigger" shows up (as it had not before) in
the search while creating a hotkey.  Great help. Thanks.
