I finally took the time to read through the massive replies on this thread. I’ll keep it short. I agree with this statement from Howard:

You cannot use ⇧ to assign an additional “shortcut”. As for any functionality lost by this revelation: Using the “Dropbox public link” example, I have to wonder, is hitting D then B (or P or L) really that much harder than hitting ⇧ then D?
