Now that the in-app updating of plugins is working again, is there a plan
to begin deprecating old plugins? I've noted that a few plugins---the
Stikkit Plugin, the Sofa Artwork plugin---are listed on the wiki but don't
show up within QS. But there are lots of dubious plugins that still show up.

I suspect it is confusing to new users to be able to install a bunch of
plugins---"recommended plugins" even!---that as a matter of fact don't
work. Some of these plugins might be useful for people using older versions
of QS or older versions of OS X, so I don't mean to suggest that they
should be removed from qsapp.com entirely, but that they should be
separated off as "legacy" or "deprecated" plugins, and should not populate
the in-app plugin list.

Here is a list of what, by my lights, are suspect plugins. My testing,
which was not extensive, is in 10.7 with QS B63. For the most part, my
judgment here is based upon negative info or just lack of info on the
plugin wiki, how long its been since the plugin was updated, and the like.
This is perhaps a somewhat aggressive list. My own view is that QS would be
best served, at this point, by aggressively trimming away the old cruft. If
some working plugins get trimmed by mistake, and someone notices (in some
cases, these plugins might still work but relate to services or software
that nobody uses anymore), then it should be easy to put them back in.

AcidSearch Module (a plugin for an old SIMBL plugin for Safari that
looks like it has been broken since Safari
3.2.1: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15495/acidsearch)
BBEdit Module (does it still work?)
   BuddyPop Module
Camino Module (does it still work?)
Cl1p Upload (cl1p.com looks to be a site selling iphone cases these
days, so this is defunct)
CLIX module (does it still work? I see that CLIX still works with 10.7)
Clutter Artwork (I have no idea what this plugin is supposed to do vis a
vis ambitious lemon, but I note that it is old and unmaintained)
DeMinimizer Module (doesn't work on 10.7? Does it work in 10.6 in
versions of QS post 10.58?)
   Desktop Picture Action (doesn't work on recent versions of OS X;
duplicates functionality available via Services Menu Module)
Deviant Module (does it still work?)
Flickr Upload (I used to use this long ago. It was convenient but it
always a bit unreliable. I just tried it and it crashed QS trying to
authorize with Flickr.)
Google Calendar Module (couldn't get it to work)
Indigo X10 Module (it is old and unmaintained. Does it still work?)
Interarchy Module (it is old and unmaintained. Does it still work?)
Mailsmith Module (it is old and unmaintained. Does it still work?)
Music ARTchive Artwork (doesn't work for me. Don't have any idea what
the "common music archive" is or whether or not it still exists.I suspect
this is defunct.)
NetNewsWire Plugin (can't imagine this still works, given that
netnewswire has been overhauled since '06)
Now Contact Module (I believe Now Contact is long
defunct: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_Software. Maybe someone still
has the old software kicking around? Does it the module still work with it?)
Salling Clicker (I realize Salling Clicker still exists. But does this
module still work with recent versions of the software?)
Slideshow Action (doesn't work for me)
   Synergy Artwork (does it work?)
Transmit 3 Module (doubt it works for Transmit 4, the current version.
Transmit 3 still around for free for people stuck on 10.4, but...
http://www.panic.com/transmit/support.html)

Best,
David
