I don't know what happened but after several quit and re-launch cycles of QS (ß64) on my 10.7.3 installation I still could not delete items from the shelf in the prescribed way of clicking on an item and pressing the backspace key. However... after I re-booted my iMac today, all is suddenly and magically well in this regard. I believe this may be what's sometimes referred to as "the cup of tea syndrome"... when one gets to wondering, have a cup of tea and try again :-)
