I RESOLVED THIS FOR MYSELF JUST BEFORE I SUBMITTED THIS POST -- but figured I would post it anyway, in case it helps someone else.
Since the update last night, QS is not working correctly for me anymore. "Open" used to be the default action to the right for any application. But now, when I bring QS up (option space) and type an application, say, "Excel" -- then instead of "Open" as the default action to the right, it shows "Execute Workflow" action (with the Automator icon). The only way to get the app to open is to right click on the app name in the left pane, and select "Actions". I tried re-downloading and reinstalling b67, but no luck. ----- The resolution for me was to disable the Automator plugin.
