It only has this problem for contacts that have a blank Notes field, which in my case is most of them.
If I have added something to the Notes field the contact right–arrows fine. But again these are only a few. I run Lion 10.7.4. When I get back to my computer I can send you a couple samples of my contacts. Hope this helps.
