Don't know why that would be. Quicksilver doesn't know about *any* of the 
types. It just gets that from the OS. And I think the OS, in turn, can learn 
about various types from the installed applications. I don't have anything 
special to handle ePub files, so something that's installed by default must 
know about them. But maybe that's not the case in 10.6?
