I said we need a name for certain things and someone suggested "collection", but that's not a good choice and now I think it's caused some confusion. "Collection" is a good word for things selected with the comma, but that's not what I meant. You can perform actions on a collection of things selected with the comma. You can't perform (many) actions on the things I was talking about. They only exist to be right-arrowed into (or searched with Search Contents). For instance, Spotlight/OpenMeta tags or Mail's mailboxes. I'd call the new type QSParentObject or something like that. The children of these things don't need to be in the catalog. It sounds like you just want a way to make every catalog entry act like that. This is already being discussed. See #1066. > Some of this functionality is AFAIK as a layman already present in iTunes > plugin and in how triggers work, and has been proposed in past threads. Sort of. There are "parent" objects, like Artist, Album, etc. and the children of these things aren't in the catalog. But the parents in this case serve a purpose other than being a means to access the children. (You can play them, add them to playlists, etc.) Although I suppose things like Browse Artists would fall into the former category. Anyway, things like that are done one a plug-in by plug-in basis where it makes sense. > In so doing there could be very specific catalogues separate from the global > catalogue and prefab actions without the need for triggers. Not quite sure what you're saying about the actions, but I wonder if this is already supposed to be possible, but currently broken. -- Rob McBroom <http://www.skurfer.com/> -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quicksilver" group.
