It definitely works. I do it all the time. Some things that might help:

  * Make sure you have the latest version of Quicksilver (B70) and the various 
browser plug-ins
  * You can get the “current page” from several browsers (if they’re running) 
so make sure you pick the correct proxy object. Their names should all be 
standardized at this point so it will be “Current Web Page (Browser Name)”. I 
believe a proxy object is available for Safari, Chrome, OmniWeb, and Firefox.
  * The action you’re looking for is “Open URL With…”, not “Open With…”, but 
I’m sure you would have figured that out.
  * If you do this a lot, you might want to set up some triggers.
