I'd forget about triggers all together if I were you. If you keep your 
Clipboard History docked to one side of the screen* all you need do is run your 
cursor over to that edge of the screen so it pops out then just click on 
whichever item you want to paste, drag it out & drop to onto your text editor 
(or wherever you want to paste it).

*Bring up the Clipboard History panel by either invoking QS and pressing ⌘L or 
by selecting "Clipboard History ⇥ Show" then just click on the grey status bar 
at the top & drag it over too & into the edge of the screen - then move your 
cursor away. You'll find it gets "sucked into" the edge of the screen. It'll 
reappear soon as you mouse over the edge of the screen it's docked into (or by 
pressing ⌘L or by selecting "Clipboard History ⇥ Show").
