Hi,

1) Currently there is no way round this. Your best option is to only add
the folders you really want (each one individually). You can do this
quickly by dragging and dropping them into the catalog prefs. We have had
many requests to do this, and it's planned, just we don't know when

2) This was an issue with version 1.0 of Quicksilver. It'll be fixed in the
next version
