If you want to define a word without opening Dictionary you can always use ⌘⌃D in most apps (hover curser over a word & press ⌘⌃D).
It certainly works in Quıcĸsılⅴεʀ & as it cuts out any need to tab right & look for a "define" action (or applescript) it's the speediest way to get a word defined.
