Well, you could simply rename /bin/bash and then link /opt/local/bin/bash 
to /bin/bash. Assuming that bash 4.2.45(2) is backwards compatible with 
3.2.51(1), there probably won't be any negative repercussions. Of course, I 
take no responsibility whatsoever if you decide to follow this suggestion.
