It sounds like you want to just add these things to the catalog. For the 1st, 
go into the catalog preferences and drag in the folder you’d like so see. Then, 
you can open Quicksilver and type the name of that folder to see it. Pressing → 
or / will show you all the items inside that folder.

For the list of open apps, just search for “Running applications & Processes” 
in Quicksilver, then hit → or /
