Success! I didn't realise you meant press period at the Triggers preference pane, to change to text mode. This time round, I deleted my old Gmail Hotkey trigger, created a new one then hit period before pasting in my URL. I then gave it a hotkey, saved and quit QS. Relaunched, and it worked when invoked. To be extra certain things worked, I went as far as rebooting, and for the first time, the hotkey still worked. Thanks so much for your patience here - I now have no problems with QuickSilver!
