thanks for looking into this for me,
i managed to sort it out just before your email reached me, 
by selecting one of the updates in the list and using the tab key 4 times 
then using the mac expose key (F3 on my keyboard) i could see the 'install' 
button highlighted around in blue, then just used the space bar to confirm. 
worked a treat

thank you once again, i'm sure i'll have a few more queries soon...
