How to get it to scan PDF, EXCEL and Word files.

Is there a way to make it scan PDF, Excel and Word files - and Pages files
on iCloud ?....

If they’re in `~/Documents`, they should already be included. Go to Preferences → Catalog → User and make sure both “Documents” and “iCloud Documents” are enabled.

If they’re stored elsewhere, you can create a custom entry.

  1. Go to Preferences → Catalog
  2. Click the `+` at the bottom of the window
  3. Choose “File & Folder Scanner”
  4. Select the folder that contains the files
  5. Set “Include contents” to “Folder contents”
  6. Adjust the depth[^1] if there are sub-folders

Repeat that for as many different folders as you need.

[^1]: Don’t get carried away with this. Setting the depth too high on folders is a common source of performance problems. You can always browse deeper by selecting a folder and hitting → or /.
