I actually had this exact same thing recently. I was trouble shooting with the guys on Twitter and was asked:
"Children split view active, but with the view dragged across so you can't see the results?" I wasn't in split view but I toggled "Show children in result list" on and off again and almost immediately the problem disappeared. So I'd try doing the same if I were you. You can find the box to check and uncheck in Preferences => Command => Results. If it's checked uncheck it, relaunch and see if the problem persists, and it it isn't checked toggle it on and off (you'll be asked to relaunch between each settings) again and see what happens.
