Why not set up your QS trigger with 
/Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice 
--writer as text in the first pane and the Run Command in Shell action in 
the second pane? Then you can skip dealing with Terminal and/or iTerm 
completely.

Your suggestion worked beautifully and fast, with one quirk: After using 
then quitting LibreOffice it re-opened *all by itself ;-( *with the default 
opening screen displayed. In other words, the trigger worked as designed, 
then this additional thing happened. I can't tell why that would be...
