I like to install downloaded apps using Quicksilver, like this: 1. Unzip zip file 2. Active Quicksilver 3. Command G 4. Move to "Applications" folder
However, when I install an app like this, instead of dragging it to Applications, it doesn't quite work right. I see the following issues: - On startup, the app will ask me if it should move itself to /Applications. (It's already there!) - If the app is running, I can't quit it with Quicksilver, Quicksilver doesn't seem to "know" the app is running. - The app won't start up on login if added to the "Login Items". Instead, it appears as "Unknown" with a warning. All of these issues go away if I manually drag the app out of /Applications and then drag it back in. I've seen this issue with the following apps: - Dash - TextExpander 5 - SizeUp Any clue what's going on here? Is there some logic that gets triggered when an app is dragged via Finder to /Applications, but not when it's moved via QS?
