This is no longer the case and I'm not sure why.

You didn’t say which version of macOS you’re on, but Apple periodically changes the way recent documents are stored, and this happened again with High Sierra.

It was fixed in Quicksilver 1.5.7, so make sure you’re running the latest version. (Problems with the in-app updater in older versions may have prevented you from seeing the update. You can get it manually from https://qsapp.com/)
