I didn't expect that you would be building those same packages in parallel. I didn't think that was what pkg-user about - am I wrong? I was simply talking about having one build of a program built and installed one place, and then having another build of the same program (perhaps with different options) installed to another directory, so you could analyze the differences.

the package user system would provide for the different users required
to install multiple instances of the *same* package.

I can't - I haven't used or looked at it yet. So I was going to hold off my judgment on it till I've tried it. Hint hint ;) No use spouting out my opinion about it till I know what I'm talking about.
