New description:
IMLib lists X as being an optional component for compiling, but the config
script as of 1.9.14 always tries to include X with a -lX11 preventing
imlib from
compiling. When you try to compile without X, it will error out not being
able
to find any graphics libs, JPEG being the first. Installing XWindows
fixes this
problem.
