Actually, it's not all that bad. An 1800+ with 512 and old Radeon 7000VE
can handle it well enough. I've played with just about all of the effects
for a short time. I'm not much on the really flashy ones, but some of
them can actually be useful...specifically window previews are very useful
to me. Hit the task switcher key shortcut, and I can see at a glance how
far along tasks running in multiple minimized windows are without
switching windows or my hands ever leaving the keyboard. KWin probably
has similar built in now days, but I haven't kept up with it. Don't know
if kwin can use compiz either, been a long time since I messed with it,
but it's for way future anyway.
