Well, here are 2 really compelling reasons.
1. Speex's upstream highly recommends the unstable versions.
2. Starting with 1.2beta3, all of the non codec componets of Speex
(preprocessor, echo cancellation, jitter buffer) have been moved into a
new library, ''libspeexdsp''. For one, PulseAudio uses it, and I am sure
that other packages might use this library.
