I think it was Wayne who reported the issue.
You can, for example, build packages in a VM where internet connection is
not available because of missing support packages (dhcp and such), or on a
basic system that requires advanced network software like ppp, vpn,
wireless + wpa and such.
You can use your host system to download packages though.
We can add a note that connection is required if necesary.
