The book instructions were based on older kernels. The book doesn't
mention the current option, but instead:
Enable modesetting on radeon by default - NEW DRIVER: Y
As you can see, it isn't the same as the current one:
Enable userspace modesetting on radeon (DEPRECATED)
I should update the instructions for newer kernels when I have some time.
Untill then, patches welcome.
