I only did that because I couldn't get 2.2.6 to compile with gcc-3.4.4 and couldn't find any patches. A quick search of the balsa-user archives didn't show me any workrounds (but I didn't look very hard). AFAICS 2.3.3 is solid stable, despite the 'said to be'.
