Hello there
http://lists.pld.org.pl/mailman/pipermail/shadow/2005-April/000096.html
4.0.9 fixes the problem (by changing the search algo to be sequential,
instead of binary) - so you should *not* see these errors in shadow 4.0.9
(I certainly no longer see them here).
I recently built a system (LFS development, but happens on LFS testing
with shadow upgraded to 4.0.9) with cracklib, PAM and shadow 4.0.9 and I
still have that problem, although not as many as the person from that
link had:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ su - root
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_TZ' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_HZ' (notify administrator)
Password:
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_SUPATH' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_SUPATH' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'QMAIL_DIR' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'MAIL_DIR' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'MAIL_FILE' (notify administrator)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~#
cracklib, PAM 0.78 and shadow 4.0.9 were installed following the BLFS
book. The ENV_TZ, ENV_HZ, ENV_SUPATH, QMAIL_DIR, MAIL_DIR and MAIL_FILE
variables are commented out in login.defs. The messages only occur with
'su'. Login, etc works without any messages. I am still searching for
a solution.
