Okay, whatever, I've checked for this though Tush. Most, if not all, don't check. They look for gssapi.h and krb5.h in /usr/include. Both the Heimdal and MIT packages provide these. There is a couple of packages that actually try to distinguish between MIT and Hiemdal. I believe one package actually then reads the krb5-config file. Have fun with your Kerberos installation. :-) But, please, don't do any updates to the book until you've checked out all the packages that can link against a Kerberos installation. > BTW, the reason I don't like a package messing with other package's > files is that it affects folks who use a package manger to install > stuff. I'm not sure you are understanding my intentions correctly. My intention is to *leave everything the way it was found* before Heimdal started the installation. Except, of course, for the following files. /usr/include/ss/ss.h /usr/lib/libss.a /usr/lib/libss.so from the E2fsprogs package. Tushar, you are aware that Heimdal will overwrite your telnet, ftp, rsh, ftpd, telnetd, and more files during the installation?
