Hello again,
and sorry for being out of reach for sometime. From what I've read thanks to DJ Lucas we now have a 99% working build. As I was doing mine a while ago his patches were not yet available; it'll be interesting to see if they differ in any way. I aimed to incorporate firefox / thunderbird into my build, to avoid building OOo's mozilla. You can find my workaround here, together with all needed files:

David, good work! I'm looking forward to trying them out (after upgrading the JDK to update 5). I'll have to rebuild firefox with ldap support. Also, I haven't looked at mozab support with the firefox build yet, but if it can be made to work (or already does), rock on. /usr/include/firefox-1.0.x/xptinfo.h will still have to be patched to workaround the mozab gcc4 issue, assuming that firefox installs whatever is needed to access a mozilla/thunderbird address book. Just a quick 'ls' reveals only the ldap libs are present in my thunderbird tree that are not present in firefox. Also, a little furthur off and a bit more difficult, I want to explore using system installed nss and nspr libs...of course that follows getting moz/ff/tb to work with them as well. :-)
