There must be some reference to them in the stylesheets as you'll notice that application tags used in the program and library descriptions tend to add some additional space before and after the tags. Furthermore, since all the references to official package names (should) have application tags, we should add them where appropriate. There may come a day when the stylesheets are updated to actually make use of them.
