Hmm, I don't recall having to do that on this build, but it's been a while. I'll be to it again in a few moments on the new build though. Anyway, if you window manager does not support a default url handler in some way, you can use this:

You can also make the same change by about:config if you have the about:config extension for thunderbird. Fortunately this is available by default in Thunderbird-1.5 by going to the menus and clicking
'tools > options > advanced > general > config editor button'
