Randy, thanks for the clarifications. X will be added as a required dependency. I will comment out freetype for now pending other research WRT Xorg-6.9/7.0.
And, research should be done to ensure that GTK+ is not required. If GTK+ or QT is not required, what rendering engine does OpenOffice use to display its graphical widgets and such?
The option is there '--disable-gtk'. OOo used to use the native (REALLY UGLY) Java display widgets (is widgets the correct term? ie: dialog boxes, window borders, buttons, menus, icons, etc.). I've not yet completed a build without gtk availible in the environment. I've got Xorg building now on a fresh installation (Thanks again Jeremy and Manuel for jhalfs). I should have a complete answer day after tomorrow.
