RedHat/Fedora does do this.  I was quite surprised the first time I
realized I was creating group writable files.  I personally feel like
this is not very useful and turn it off, but I don't see much harm in
it being in the book.  Anyone with half an ounce of sense about
permissions will be able to make their own decision.
