It was actually fixed the day it was opened, just no editor bothered to fix it. Then 6 months later Bruce incorrectly declared the problem solved in a newer version, was made aware of the mistake, and fixed the problem the next day. Then he left it open for 8 days to see if anyone mentioned a problem. Now frankly, it does seem obvious that hardly anyone uses the /usr install method, and I have no concern whether it's kept or not, but using an over-exaggeration for reasoning doesn't jibe.
