I think that putting something out as prominent as removing a package from the book needs to go into Bugzilla and at least 4-6 months need to go by to let folks comment on the proposal. Recently, you've given about 1 day and moved with stuff. That is simply too soon in my opinion. Especially around a holiday weekend where not many are reading the -dev list, I'd bet.
