I don't use it either. Looking at Sourceforge, I see that it hasn't
been updated since July, 2001. It is supposed to be a BSD licensed
version of readline, so overwriting readline files would be appropriate.
Why do we need that? I'd say drop it from the book.

FWIW, I've never installed it, but I do install BC, mainly for suppirt
as an extension to PHP. Never needed libedit...
