I had trouble installing NAS on my newly build LFS (development) system.
Until I found this note from Richard that mentioned the problem:

There was a reply from Tushar that said the problem was fixed - Can
someone tell me where the fix is?
When I do the install of a package I usually just use a regular 'su' and
execute the installation commands. The path that I get doesn't include
/usr/X11R6/bin. Here is the path that I have after su'ing:
PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
Can someone point me to what I missed?
